Sideloaders
Introduction
Fork lift trucks (FLTs) feature prominently in workplace accidents. Every year there are about 8000 lift truck accidents resulting in injury, and on average 10 of them are fatal. Even if people are not injured in Flt accidents there could be damage to buildings, storage systems or stock.
Aims
By the end of the course all delegates will:
- have an understanding of legislation applicable to Sideloaders
- understand the principles of stability
- be able to carry out pre use checks
- operate the Sideloader in accordance with the operator safety code
- carry out shut down procedures
Who should attend?
Anybody who are required to operate Sideloaders within their workplace
Course content
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 98, LOLER 98
- Approved Code of Practice L117 “Rider Operated Lift trucks – Operator Training”
- Pre operational and operational checks
- Safe manoeuvring laden and unladen
- Loading, unloading, stacking and destacking
- Correct parking procedures
- Theoretical and practical tests

Experienced Operators 1 Day - 3 Delegates
Semi Experienced Operators 2, 3 or 4 Days - 3 Delegates
Novice Operators 5 Days - 3 Delegates
