Small Power Tools
Introduction
This course develops the skills and knowledge needed to operate portable hands tools and to gain a fundamental understanding of current legislation and regulations that encompass these skills and the need to work safety at all times.
Aims
By the end of the course all delegates will:
- Be able to carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment
- Explain the relevant safety requirements and procedures for safe operation of hand tools
- Define Hand Arm Vibration syndrome, describe the symptoms and state who is at risk and how this condition can be prevented
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
- Demonstrate safe operation of identified power tools
- Carry out General maintenance on power tools.

Any personnel required to operate small power tools at work
Course content
- Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, Section 2 – 7 & 8
- Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Risk Assessments
- Hand – Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
- Safe operation of power tools
- General maintenance.
Personal Protective Equipment Required:
Safety Helmet, High Viz Vest, Safety Boots
